WEST CHESHIRE LUNCH & PRIZE A PRESENTATION 2009

80 members and friends attended this event.

Guest speaker Andy Bason, Wrekinsport CC who presented the awards.

A picture of some of our hardier members cycling to the Wirral for the lunch.  We were originally a larger group, but a coming together of two of our members (see Phil Guy or Chris Wilkinson for details) and a series of punctures meant a fragmented arrival.

Phil Guy claimed Best-on-Standard in 50 mile Championship with +31:34, 1st in 60+ category in the Points Series and a Silver medal in Vets BAR Championship with +130:50.

Chris Wilkinson capped a fine season by finishing 1st Junior in 10 mile Championship with a 23:34, 1st in Junior Point Series and 1st in Junior BAR competition with average speed 24.694 mph.

Leah Leonard finished fastest lady in 25 mile Championship with a 1:05:00, a personal best in her first full year of time trialling.

Bryan Cliff was first winner of the Alf Jones Memorial Trophy in 25 mile Championship with 58:27, 1st 50+ and 4th in the Points Series and a Bronze medal with a  +100:34 in Vets Championship.

Jim Gresty claimed 1st in Vets Championship with a record +165:26, 3rd in Senior BAR with an average speed of 22.976 mph. In the Vets Awards, Jim claimed Best-on-Standard in 10 mile with a +8:34, 100 mile with a +102:00 and in the 12 Hours with +61.06 miles.
Alan Roberts kindly donated a new trophy to the Association for 30 mile Championship and is pictured presenting it to Dave Crawley of Fibrax Wrexham RC.

Rebecca Leaper claimed fastest lady in 100 mile Championship with 4:45:52, fastest lady in 12 Hour Championship with 231.76 miles and 3rd place Ladies BAR with an average speed of 21.795 mph.

Dave Wright finished in 7th place in Vets Championship with a +32:18.

The combined talents of Rebecca Leaper, Bryan Cliff, Jim Gresty, Warren Horton and Phil Guy claimed the team awards for 25 mile Championship with a 3:02:27 and 100 Mile Championship with 13:15:05.
